However, in structural audits and quality compliance checks, rebound hammer data is routinely invalidated due to procedural errors, improper angle correction, and a fundamental misunderstanding of surface-layer calibration mechanics. A raw rebound index (R-value) taken directly off the gauge window is not an absolute measure of concrete compressive strength (f_cu).
